Have you heard Lauren Campbell yet?

Her 2011 debut EP, Lauren Campbell and The Dusty Figurines (with James Fox on electric guitar, Pete Moss on bass and guitar, and Adam Cannon on drums and percussion), was produced by Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness, The Cliks). Her lyrics have that intimate and effortless feel reserved for those with a natural-born gift for songwriting, her voice has a lovely warm timbre, and her music a certain je ne sais quoi. But don’t take my word for it – go have a listen! Check out Lauren Campbell music on Facebook. Here’s the video for “Southbound” to whet your whistle.

For dessert, head on over to Bandcamp for a free two-song download by Lauren & Tokyo (David “Tokyo” Speirs) from 2010. If you’re a fan of charming duos with incredible musical chemistry then you will fall in love with “Lighthouse” and “The Ladder and the Key”. In a perfect universe, Lauren & Tokyo would reunite and bring more songs into the world.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled, folks! I have a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more from (and about) Lauren Campbell in the coming years. In the meantime, Lauren Campbell and The Dusty Figurines is available on iTunes.
